Urban Watersheds: The Human Connection
Elementary

Due to special grant funding this program is offered at no cost.

These are activities for elementary school students to help them discover their relationships with the water in our environment.  Students will learn about watersheds, urban runoff pollution, and water quality, and discover ways to protect our streams, rivers, and lakes.  These activities will help fulfill the following Nebraska State Board of Education Standards:

Science Standards - 1.5.1, 4.5.2, 8.5.1 develop an understanding of the characteristics of earth materials and the structure of the earth.

Science Standards - 1.7.2, 4.7.2, 8.7.2 develop an understanding of resources, the types of resources, and the effects of populations, resources, and the environment.

This activity will be presented by a University of Nebraska-Lincoln Douglas/Sarpy Extension Assistant.  Presentations will be adapted to the age of students and the specific requests of the classroom reacher.  Programs could include visual presentations, games, watershed modeling, puzzles, etc.
